May – what a month and some very happy clients

Wow, what a month! Quite possibly the biggest for a while.

Running out of the RQYS in Brisbane is the stunning Assegai 44 “Megumi” Anyone who knows a thing about game fishing will know ‘Megumi” and its larger than life, legendary skipper “Brownie”. Ken is very well known in Qld through his Coastwatch series on TV and just an all round top bloke. Brownie has even appeared in a few movies back in the day! He and owner Laurie run an exclusive members only game fishing club, traveling to different east coast destinations as the seasons change.

To check out “Megumi” and Brownie go to www.bsfac.com.au

The boat is a winner …except for the super noisy QSM 595 HP Cummins engines. After going through various scenario’s, Brownie asked me to fly up and have a on site meeting with the famous boat builder Barry Martin, whom I have know for nearly twenty odd years, along with the marine engineer to the stars, and mate, Stewart Butler.

After a couple of hours we had a plan. We are in the process now of cutting access hatches in the bach deck and fitting in line mufflers. Its a really exciting project, will be sea trialling in about 3 weeks…keep you posted.

On the go in QLD, we are doing more work for Riverside Marine. Two 34 metre vessels are being built, one by BSC, the other by MEC on the Gold Coast -both powered by Cat 1350 HP. As with all previous high speed cats, we have developed a custom exhaust solution to the owners specs.

In Sydney, also for Riverside Fantasea, we have developed a solution for a very noisy pair of Volvo’s. That will be installed by us and the boys at Onboard Marine Engineering who look after all their Sydney based fleet.

Also on the go, a Dyna 77 in Port Lincoln SA, brand new powered by 1300 HP MAN’s, with an underwater exhaust. A stunning vessel with a few exhaust issues. I flew down and came up with a solution for them, that we have tried and tested before on other similar jobs.

At the other end of the spectrum, we are custom designing a muffler for a 38 ft yacht powered by Yanmar 39 HP, a combo gas /water sep for a 30 ft Jeanneau making it debut at the Sydney IBS.

We are also designing more and more dry exhaust systems. Incat Crowther used our designed recently for a fish farm workboat for a Norwegian client, powered by a pair of 350 HP Yanmars. We are now in the process of supplying another set for a client in NZ, a 35MTR cat powered by a pair of 900 HP Yanmars.

The designs of late seem to be quite technical, but the concept is not changing. Understanding the job is paramount, when thats done, the outcome is no real suprise.. just a happy client.

We work very closely with our builders, naval architects and shipwrights. We understand and are involved in the process, from conception to completion. Simply, you cannot beat experience. Call or contact us for friendly, free technical advice 24/7.
