Sometimes cooling water is restricted or stopped all together in a wet exhaust system. This can be caused by a plastic bag or other matter over the sea water intake,a damaged impeller or someone forgetting to turn the sea cock open!
The fibreglass muffler and other components may suffer excessive heat damage.
Pictured is a Centek muffler from the USA. The inlet and end of the muffler was damaged in an overheat and the owner thought it was a throw away.
In this case we attached a new end in a few hours and saved the owner around $600 +GST. Unlike our competitors our inlet and outlet hose tails are hand made using heavy woven rovings, chopped strand mat and then tissue for a super smooth finish, resin is super tough vynel esther. The 203mm hose tail we replaced from Centek is a filament wound item having a wall thickness of 3mm. Our hose tails are 8mm thick and deliver a much higher heat distortion temperature (HDT) and will not suffer depression under an overtightened super clamp.
